Concert in the Château courtyard
Malval began as a collaboration between Erika Maschke, a classical oboist, and Jonathan Sarrabia, Baptiste Lherbeil and Robin Mairot, traditional musicians. Malval draws inspiration from all kinds of music and playfully reworks any motifs that catch their eye. In the same vein, the quartet takes on a faux-baroque air and masters math and post-rock rhythms. As for the hurdy-gurdies and lyrics, they anchor the music firmly in the traditions of oral storytelling, thematic repetition and humming music. Malval constructs contemplative, intense and intimate landscapes, at times danceable.
